Maine Veterans' Homes Budget and Reimbursement Analyst in Augusta, Maine
Position Summary: Performs various finance functions relating to capital/fixed assets, assigned general ledger accounts, budgeting, variance reporting, and cost report preparation. Reviews financial information and ensures accuracy of accounts. Assists Controller with preparation for the annual financial audit and third party audits.
Works with assigned leaders developing the capital budget. Prepares and distributes capital budget workbook to managers. Reviews capital items requested for proper classification. Assist in the development of the operating budget. Maintains the budget software program. Enters data into budget software and assists with questions. Reviews budget for completeness and accuracy, distributes final budgets and loads data in the GL System. Distributes and analyzes monthly financial and payroll variance reports. Acts as a resource to managers to explain variances. Gathers all required data and prepares assigned Medicare, Medicaid and VA cost reports annually. Responds to State Audit requests, maintains the Book, State and VA fixed asset schedules. Prepares grant request for VA capital grand projects.
Maintains fixed assets system by entering assets using proper asset classification and useful life criteria, entering disposals, calculating depreciation expense, preparing and posting required journal entries on a monthly basis. Responsible for updating and distributing the capital tracking spreadsheet. Collaborates with financial staff to develop departmental goals, objective, standardized methods.
A Bachelors Degree is required. A combination of post-secondary education/training/experience providing considerable knowledge of accounting activities, with at least two years accounting experience. Related education/experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Proficient computer skills required, including General ledger software and Excel experience.
