We are currently seeking a IOC Duty Officer join our growing team!
The Duty Officer initiates and assists in the coordination of emergency response requests for NRC during oil spills, drills as well as track NRC resources, including personnel and recording vessel movements. The Duty Officer will respond to client requests and escalates as necessary and provides timely follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work consists of various administrative duties and dispatch duties. Must be able to exercise sound judgment and act properly without direct supervision.
Ability to communicate clearly and distinctly in person and on the telephone. Maintain composure under stressful situations, ability to take quick, accurate notes and maintain documents. All actions are to be done in a professional manner.
Ability to initiate an environmental response to an incident quickly and efficiently.
Well versed in basic computer skills/ability to use Internet is very important. Will be entering information into numerous databases.
Keep track of all Company operations personnel and contact numbers. Notify appropriate personnel with response responsibilities and information.
Monitor numerous news programs for environmental information or alters.
Know where to access various information – i.e, tides and currents, port locations, etc.
Using latitude and longitude to determine ETA’s and locations.
Interact with clients in a professional manner.
Keep good documented records of Company operations as necessary, ie, daily logs, operations summaries, case logs, etc.
During emergency operations, must be able to prioritize actions.
Must possess an excellent geographical knowledge of response areas.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must be able to work 12 hour shifts with the flexibility to work nights and/or weekends.
2+ years’ dispatch experience working in an environmental or emergency response environment preferred.
Must possess solid computer experience with programs, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Oracle (or similar database programs) and Internet Explorer.
Exemplary verbal, written and interpersonal skills required with the ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous services to both internal and external customers.
Must be able to work independently and be comfortable with sitting for long periods of time.
