Pratt & Whitney’s Compression Systems Engineering (CSE), designers and analysts of advanced Fans, Low and High Pressure Compressors, is currently seeking an experienced and highly-motivated Design or Structures Engineer to join its team in support of the Commercial Composites Fan, supporting all of our commercial engine programs, including the Next Generation Product Family (NGPF).

You, as a Technical Deputy Manager, will be responsible for:

  • Program and individual project leadership

  • Provide technical direction on new design or structures activity

  • Support program/project level design reviews for all projects

  • Review designs or analyses to ensure product integrity, and represent the Commercial Composites organization during formal reviews

  • Mentor recent additions to the engineering, technician and contractor staff

  • Identify improvements to and author new Engineering Standard Work (ESW)

  • Use ACE tools to identify opportunities for improvement for Commercial Composite activities

Qualification:

Do you meet these Basic Qualifications?

  • You've obtained a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering

  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Status (Green Card Holder) is required

  • Minimum 10 years of Mechanical Design and/or Structures Engineering experience within the Aerospace Manufacturing industry required

How about any of these Preferred Qualifications?

Expected qualifications for applicants with a Mechanical Design background:

  • 7+ years of Mechanical Design – Bolted joint design, Hand calculations, CAD experience; TeamCenter and NX experience preferred.

  • 3+ years of Composite Design – Experience with composite manufacturing techniques, such as Resin Transfer Molding, compression molding, injection molding, and/or autoclave molding preferred.

  • Experience as a design lead for composite hardware

Expected qualifications for applicants with a Structures Engineering background:

  • 7+ years of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) – ANSYS, NASTRAN/PATRAN experience preferred

  • 3+ years of Composite Finite Element Analysis (FEA) – Laminated shell modeling, solid modeling, and/or ply-by-ply solid modeling preferred

  • Experience as a structures lead for composite hardware

Additional qualifications:

  • Expert written and verbal skills with ability communicate in a straightforward manner. Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural awareness

  • Six-Sigma, Continuous Improvement, or Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Associate Certification is strongly preferred along with a proven track record of cost savings and continuous improvement accomplishments

  • Executive presence comfortable interacting with senior executive leadership

  • You are comfortable working Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. SAP supply chain experience preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering required

  • Advanced degrees may benefit the candidate
